Message from the Vice-Chancellor: Marketing and communications draft change proposal

Several weeks ago, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Garton, wrote to all general staff to let them know that a draft change proposal relating to the delivery of marketing and communications services in the University was soon to be released for wide consultation. That proposal has now been released, and the consultation process is beginning.
The draft proposal outlines a possible structure for a University-wide Marketing and Communications professional services unit.
It addresses key themes highlighted in the Green Paper: the extent of duplication and overlap in major services and the proliferation of siloed activities. Initiative 17a of the 2011-2015 Strategic Plan identified marketing and student recruitment as the first service to be reviewed in order to develop a more effective, coordinated and efficient system of professional service delivery.
A website has been established on which information about the proposal will be found, with details about how to provide feedback. A series of meetings will be held with marketing and communications staff and other stakeholders, but feedback from the wider University community is also welcome.
As the tertiary education sector becomes more and more competitive, we need to ensure that our marketing and communications services provide the best possible value. Your input will help us to refine our proposal so that the resulting structure will be able to deliver the services the University needs.
