Message from the Acting Vice-Chancellor: new staff intranet

10 April 2013

As you may have already seen, we have today launched a new staff intranet to improve your access to the University-wide information you need to complete administrative tasks. You can find a link to the Intranet on the University's home page at

You have consistently told us in staff surveys that it is complex and time-consuming to find this sort of information. As a result, the Marketing and Communications Division has worked with the professional service units - Campus Infrastructure and Services, Financial Services, Human Resources, and Information and Communications Technology - to review and reorganise much of the staff-focused content currently located in the University's website.

The Intranet is part of wider efforts, underpinned by our strategic plan, to make our delivery of administrative and professional services more effective, coordinated and efficient. It will also allow us to move staff-focused content out of the University's website, which will then be able to communicate more effectively with our key external stakeholders, including future students, alumni, donors and other partners.

For more information, you can read 10 things you need to know about the Intranet.

Please join me in thanking our colleagues in the Marketing and Communications team and the professional service units for their work to build the Intranet, which they will continue to develop in coming months. Your feedback will be welcome, either by email or via the link at the bottom of every Intranet page.

Yours sincerely

Stephen Garton
