Sydney named by Times in top 100 universities in the world

3 October 2013

The University of Sydney has again been included in the top 100 in the World University Rankings published on Thursday by Times Higher Education.

Although most Australian universities have slipped in the rankings this year, the University is honoured to be in the top 100 universities in the world. The World University Rankings are one indicator of a university's performance in an increasingly competitive global education sector.

"Australian universities have done consistently well in the international rankings for many years and continue to perform well, indicating that we have an excellent university system, one that Australia should be proud of," said Dr Michael Spence, Vice-Chancellor.

"It is also a system that can only remain excellent if there is adequate public investment to sustain quality, especially at a time when many countries in our region are significantly increasing public investment in higher education."

"I am proud of all our staff and students who contribute to making our University a place where researchers and students can thrive and realise their full potential."
