NSW bushfires: support and resources for staff and students

21 October 2013

Undoubtedly, you will all be greatly concerned about the devastating bushfires that continue to threaten parts of New South Wales.

Some members of our community have been personally affected, or have family or friends in areas such as the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast or Southern Highlands. Please join me in extending to them the support and sympathy of the University community.

I would strongly encourage any colleague or student who is distressed by the bushfire situation to take advantage of counselling and support services provided by the University. Find out about the resources available.

The University has put in place measures to protect staff and students located on campuses that could be at risk from bushfires, and we will continue to monitor the situation closely. Of course, if you are under direct threat from a bushfire, please contact emergency services on 000 immediately, and make sure you follow their advice.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Spence
