Staff ballot approves proposed Enterprise Agreement

18 November 2013

I am very pleased to let you know that the overwhelming majority of staff who voted in last week's ballot - representing 94 percent of the 3663 votes cast - approved the University's proposed Enterprise Agreement (EA). This is an excellent result for colleagues across the University.

Although the proposed EA is yet to be formally ratified by the Fair Work Commission, the University will not delay payment of the salary increases we have agreed for staff, which will be reflected in the pay of 28 November.

The additional concessional day will also apply for the 2013/14 closedown: the University will shut down from close of business on Tuesday 17 December 2013 and reopen on Thursday 2 January.

Thank you all for your patience during the enterprise bargaining process. We will keep you updated via the intranet on progress towards formal ratification of the proposed agreement. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact your HR adviser.

Best wishes for the rest of 2013. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at tomorrow's staff forum.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Spence
