Paws in the Park at Camden
21 October 2013
On Sunday 20th October 2013, a team of our staff and students took to the great outdoors to promote our services at the annual Paws in the Park event. Run by the Camden Council, the event provides several benefits: free health checks to hundreds of dogs, advice to their owners about responsible pet ownership, a great opportunity for our students to practise their communication and examination skills, and promotion for our Small Animal Unit. And not least, it is a day of fun for over one thousand humans who come along with their four legged friends.
The event began with a 3-5 kilometre walk around the venue, the Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park. After this, veterinarians from our Small Animal Unit and a team of students from the final years of their degree settled down to give physical examinations to the hundreds of dogs in attendance. There were 800 show bags given out on the day to happy owners.
Despite the hot and smoky conditions, the day was a huge success, and a great promotion of the wonderful services provided by the Veterinary Teaching Hopital, Camden.
