Assignment referencing guide
If you are a pre-registration or post-registration student submitting academic work like assignments, your references must use the style accepted at Sydney Nursing School.
It's essential that you know what the style looks like and how it works. Sydney Nursing School uses the American Psychological Association (APA) Referencing style, 6th Edition, 2010. This is an author-date style of referencing. Examples of this style are found in the Referencing Guide.
It is a requirement that all academic work be correctly and appropriately referenced. Assignments not correctly and appropriately referenced will receive a fail grade.
Sydney Nursing School, along with the Nursing Library and the University Library, has a guide to help you acknowledge appropriately the work of others. The APA Referencing Guide is intended for all pre-registration and post-registration students in the preparation of their academic assignments. Research students may, from time to time, use other forms of referencing in reporting their research. These students, in consultation with their supervisor, may need to use different styles of referencing depending on the nature of their project.
