Post-registration courses

Post-registration

If you are already a registered nurse* you can enhance your professional practice by increasing your skills and knowledge bases. While recognising prior learning experiences, our post-registration courses augment the clinical repertoire, leadership skills and research capabilities needed to participate in a growing, more sophisticated health care environment.

*Other criteria may also lead to eligibility. See the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia website.

Domestic students

If you are a domestic student you must be registered to practise nursing in NSW and hold a qualification at certificate or diploma level.

International students

International students must be registered to practise nursing in a country other than Australia and hold a qualification at certificate or diploma level (or its Australian equivalent). If you are an international student, the Bachelor of Nursing (Post-registration) will not lead to registration as a nurse in NSW. Overseas nurses who wish to become registered in NSW must undertake the Master of Nursing.

Clinical practice

Some of the specialty areas of postgraduate study have clinical practice requirements. These are clearly explained within the relevant areas under postgraduate course information.

Note: Not all the specialty areas require clinical practice as part of the course.
