Biographical details

I am a registered nurse and midwife. I joined the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery early in 2009 as a Senior Lecturer, and the Coordinator of Clinical Practice. My nursing qualifications include certificates in special care neonates, adult intensive care, and clinical teaching. I have a Diploma in Nurse Education, and an undergraduate degree in science (BSc). I have particular expertise and interest in information and computer literacy. I completed a Master of Health Personnel Education (MHP Ed), which involved researching first year nursing students’ attitudes and skills related to research and computer studies. My PhD topic was on communication patterns and behaviours of healthcare providers working within a case management model of care (CMMC) and the implications this has for IT. My academic activities have involved research projects both clinically and educationally based, ranging from clinical handover issues (clinical) to the use of simulation as a teaching and learning model using medium and high fidelity mannequins (education).
