Establishing incidence of injury risk among our elderly population – an injury prevention initiative

Trauma in the elderly is a growing problem. One of the outreach programs conducted by SGH trauma service is a bi-annual seniors injury prevention seminar. It is hosted by the local RSL club and each event is attended by over 80 delegates. In an attempt to target relevant injury risk factors among our attendees we conducted a survey that identified specific known contributors to injury. The seminar content was then altered to include injury prevention information related to those risks. Evaluation of the seminars is also conducted.
