University of Sydney Human Research Ethics Committee applications and meetings
Two committees handle the large number of new applications received. Both committees operate under the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007) issued by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) in accordance with the NHMRC Act 1992 (Cth). Their function, amopng other things, is to consider the ethical implications and scientific merit of all proposed human research projects and determine whether or not they are acceptable on ethical and scientific grounds.
