Sarah has been a registered nurse since 1996 and has over 10 years experience in various education roles within the public and private sectors. Her clinical background is in the perioperative environment. In the hospital's perioperative environment, Sarah’s experience as an educator involved being responsible for facilitating and evaluating the professional development framework for all perioperative and allied health staff. She has participated in the educational development of post-registration and postgraduate students, and has worked in an advisory role on clinical competency development tools for the University of Technology, for the Clinical Accreditation Program (Perioperative stream). Sarah has also been actively involved in quality improvement programs within the Local Health Network including the development of local clinical procedures, guidelines and initiatives. This is Sarah’s first full-time academic appointment.

At the University of Technology, Sydney, Sarah majored in Perioperative Nursing for her Graduate Diploma in Clinical Nursing (1999); and in Education for her Master of Professional Studies (2001).

Research interests

Sarah’s research interests are workplace culture and changes in education frameworks within the health setting.
