Yun-Hee Jeon
Associate Professor
RN, PhD MNRes BHSc(Nursing) UoN, MHN
Yun-Hee is committed to promoting and supporting research concerned with prevention and management of chronic illness (PMCI) within the primary health care context. Her aim is to develop and consolidate evidence in PMCI and inform practice and policy for people affected by chronic illness. Yun-Hee has experience in clinical practice as a registered nurse and teaching in Korea and Australia. She also holds credentials as a mental health nurse. She has been involved in local and international collaborative research projects in the aged care/mental health nursing areas, and has received various national competitive grants.
Yun-Hee is a member of the nursing care node for the Primary Dementia Collaborative Research Centre and serves on its Advisory Committee. She has been an active member of Research Board of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. Yun-Hee was awarded Master of Nursing in 1995 (The lived experience of caring for a family member with chronic mental illness: A phenomenological study) and PhD in 2002 (Shaping mutuality: A grounded theory study of community psychiatric nurses’ work with family caregivers of older people with depression), from the University of Newcastle.
Research interests and areas of expertise
Yun-Hee has been involved in various areas of research including chronic illness, leadership and management in aged care, aged care workforce, dementia care, person centred care, mental health, family care giving, respite care and culturally diverse workforce. She has a particular interest in qualitative research, systematic reviews and health service research.
