John Kelly is a Principal of John G Kelly & Associates Pty Limited, providing legal advice primarily to health industry clients, in the areas of commercial, corporate and competition law. John’s practice primarily covers the aged care, medical device and pharmaceutical sectors.

Before practising as a lawyer, John had been involved in the health care industry for over 16 years as a nurse, psychologist and a health care manager. As well as clinical, teaching and management experience in nursing, John has worked in health industry strategic planning roles at both national and state levels.
John is still actively involved in the health care industry and is a past President of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia. In this capacity, John was intimately involved in policy formulation and program implementation to improve recruitment and retention for remote and rural nurses. He was also a member of the New South Wales Nurses and Midwives Registration Board for nine years until 2008 and is currently President of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of New South Wales. He is also a member of the NSW Ministerial Advisory Committee on Ageing.

He is a Director of the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners and is currently Chairman of Uniting Care Ageing (NSW, ACT).
