Biographical details
Although my name is Amanda, I am known by my middle name Jane. I have been a registered nurse since 1998 and have practised within the field of emergency nursing for over 11 years. I began my nursing career in the UK and was commissioned into the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps in 2003, serving over 5 years with the British Army including tours of duty to Iraq. Transferring to the Australian Defence Force in 2008, I served for three years with the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps and this included an overseas humanitarian aid deployment to Indonesia. I am an authorised nurse practitioner and I work in the field of emergency nursing. An experienced teacher, I am highly skilled in the use of high fidelity simulation in delivering advanced life support and emergency response training.

Currie J (2008). The deployable role of Nurse Practitioners – unpublished. Quantitative research using a questionnaire method to explore the feasibility of deploying NPs on operations with the British Army.
