From Egyptian mummies to Aboriginal bark paintings, Assyrian archers to bizarre sea sponges, there is always something new to discover at the Nicholson Museum, Macleay Museum and the University Art Gallery.

University Art Gallery

Inside the archway linking the Quadrangle with the Macleay Building

The Art Gallery is home to the University of Sydney’s extensive art collection of paintings, works on paper, sculpture and decorative arts. We are currently exhibiting Freedom Riders: Art and Activism 1960s to Now.


Nicholson Museum

Southern entrance to the Quadrangle

The Nicholson Museum holds the largest Australian collection of ancient artefacts from Egypt, Greece, Italy and the Middle East. We are currently exhibiting The Etruscans: A Classical Fantasy.


Macleay Museum

Top floor of the Macleay Building, ScienceRoad

The Macleay Museum is a museum of natural history, ethnography and history. The collection includes natural history material, significant Australian and Pacific indigenous material and scientific instruments. We are currently exhibiting The Quest for Red: Trade and Experiment.
