Recruitment and Selection Workshop

This practical workshop aims to equip hiring managers with the knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to better assess a candidate’s suitability within the framework of the University’s recruitment process.

In particular, the workshop focuses on:

  • The University’s recruitment process and procedure
  • Roles and responsibilities of the hiring manager and SydneyRecruitment
  • Legal and EEO requirements
  • Behavioural interviewing skills and practice (including capability analysis).

Using a blend of theory and practical exercises, participants will explore different aspects of the University’s recruitment process, such as determining a candidate’s organisational fit and how to assess a candidate’s capability and suitability in relation to a particular role. The workshop also helps participants to identify at which stages in the recruitment process they should seek help and, importantly, where they can get further support if needed.

In addition to working through the different stages of the University’s recruitment process, participants will have the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice throughout the day by taking part in a series of hands-on activities centred around a recruitment exercise.

Please note: This course does not include how to write a Position Description.
