National Advisory Board
In 2009, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy formed a National Advisory Board, with members from different areas of pharmacy profession, such as hospital pharmacy, community pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry and pharmacy education.
The Advisory Board is not a formal Board under the University's administrative and decision-making structure, which allows it the freedom to be advisory in nature. Members are invited in a personal capacity, rather than in a representative capacity, based on their own personal experience as pharmacists or Pharmacy leaders.
The current membership of the National Advisory Board is as follows:
- Mr Will de Laat – Chairman of Medicines Australia
- Professor William Charman – Dean and Director, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University
- Ms Wendy Phillips – Executive Director, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia
- Mr Ralph Dahmen - Australian Self-Medication Industry
Terms of Reference
The National Advisory Board is to provide guidance and high-level strategic advice to the Dean on the Learning and Teaching, and Research and Innovation profile of the Faculty and on the Faculty’s engagement with the pharmacy profession and with other stakeholders.
The Board had its inaugural meeting on 28 May 2009 and will meet twice a year.
Reference Groups
The Dean has also formed four reference groups underneath the National Advisory Board: the Community Pharmacy Reference Group, the Hospital Pharmacy Reference Group, the Pharmacy Industry Reference Group and the Government Reference Group. Membership for all Reference Groups except the Government Reference Group has been finalised and each of the Community, Hospital and Industry Reference Groups has met at least once in 2009. Membership of the Government Reference Group is currently being finalised.
