Research interests
Associate Professor Hanrahan's research interests focuses on the understanding the role of GABA receptors in anxiety, sleep disorders, schizophrenia, epilepsy and learning and memory, including:
- Design and synthesis of conformationally restrained GABA analogues
- Developing molecules that allosterically modulate GABA receptor function
- Identifying and characterising natural products from traditional herbal medicines
