Foundations of Pharmacy
Coordinator: Dr Erica Sainsbury
Main focus of the placement: Orientation in community pharmacy
Objectives of the placement:
- Assist students to gain insight into the basic environment of community pharmacy
- Provide an opportunity for students to assess their interest in the field
- The placements complement on-campus lectures and workshops
- Requires students to carry out a number of observational activities which are discussed and consolidated in subsequent workshops
Social Pharmacy
Coordinator: Dr Lorraine Smith
Main focus of the placement: Introduction to community pharmacy
Objectives of the placement:
- Identify and describe the spectrum of pharmacy practice activities within community pharmacy
- Describe the patterns of prescribed medication distributed by community pharmacy
- Explain the roles of a range of healthcare professionals and how they interrelate within the healthcare system
