History of Project Management at Sydney
Project Management programs began in 1998 within the School of Civil Engineering, this was a purely postgraduate degree delivered online.
In 2003, the Project Management Graduate Program underwent changes to make it more competency-based and aligned with PMI.
In 2004, the Project Management Graduate Program won the inaugural Project Management Institute (PMI) Professional Development Provider of the Year award and the PMI Professional Development Product of the Year Award.
In 2008 the program was redeveloped by a professor from the research field of complex systems. The course material was updated and the program introduced classes on campus.
The Masters in Project Management program in 2010 received PMI Global Accreditation, since receiving the accreditation the student numbers increased 300%.
During 2011, a Masters in Project Leadership degree was created – a professional degree designed for experienced senior managers to develop complex, critical thinking leadership capabilities.
In 2012 the program developed and commenced the world's first specialised undergraduate project management degree, the Bachelor of Project Management.
