General FAQs
How do I change my Units of Study?
You can change your Units of Study online via My Uni (opens in a new window). If you are having trouble you can fill out a Variation of Enrolment form.
Special permission from the department is required if you do not meet the pre-requisite for a particular Unit of Study, or if it is a Unit of Study not associated with your degree.
When am I able to change my Units of Study?
There are various penalties associated with discontinuing from a Unit of Study after a certain date. You should be aware that the following definitions apply to variations of enrolment made by students who are considered local (ie, permanent residents of Australia):
Withdrawal
No academic or financial penalty.
Semester 1 Units of Study
2 weeks into semester - Last day to add a unit
31 March - Last day to Withdraw from a Unit of Study
Semester 2 Units of Study
2 weeks into semester - Last day to add a unit
31 August - Last day to Withdraw from a Semester 2 Unit of Study
I've been sent an email about pre-enrolling, what do I need to do?
After your first year of study you don't need to enrol in person, you can complete a process called pre-enrolment through MyUni.
There are two deadlines – one for pre-enrolling on paper and one for pre-enrolling via MyUni. Please refer to the email from the Student Centre for full details.
What do I do if I miss pre-enrolment?
You will need to re-enrol in person during enrolment week.
How do I find contact details for a member of staff?
Use the online directory where you can search for staff by name or department.
How can I access the PmBoK Guide?
It is available through the University Library or, if you are a PMI Member, you can access it through the PMI website.

How do I change my enrolment?
The easiest way to make changes to your enrolment is via MyUni
If you need advice about which subjects to enrol in contact your year advisor
The degree table mentions electives. What can I enroll in? Do I need permission?
There are two types of electives in your degree tables:
- Free Electives
The following conditions apply to free electives:
- The level of the unit of study is appropriate (eg students would not normally be permitted to do a 3rd year unit of study in the 2nd year elective spot)
- You fulfill any of the prerequisites for that unit of study
- The content is mutually exclusive from other civil engineering subjects (eg you could not do an introductory MATLAB course, because this was already covered in ENGG1801).
- If the unit of study is on the Approved elective list, please contact Undergraduate Administrative Assistant, Cynthia Papangelis to arrange the enrolment.
- If the unit of study is not on the Approved elective list, please contact Undergraduate Administrative Assistant, Cynthia Papangelisto seek the approval of the School Director of Undergraduate Studies.

Can I change to a different BPM stream or a type of BE/BPM or a different degree?
To change to a different BPM stream you will need to obtain permission from the Head of School. You should speak with an advisor first.
For combined degree students, in order to change to a different Bachelor of Engineering degree, you need to obtain permission from the Head of School. You should speak with an advisor first.
To switch from a combined degree to a single degree you will need to speak with the Faculty Office and an advisor about the units you have to complete. Any other degree change goes through UAC or the International Student Office (LINK TO http://sydney.edu.au/internationaloffice/) .
Where can I get my timetable?
View your timetable at sydney.edu.au/current_students/student_administration/timetables.shtml
