WINGARA MURA LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Under the Wingara Mura – Bunga Barrabugu strategy, the University of Sydney is committed to a range of initiatives so as to become a place where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are able to pursue academic interests, careers and contributions with intrinsic pride and purpose.

The Wingara Mura Leadership Program forms part of this strategy. The aim of this program is to attract, develop and retain talent by offering first class career support pathways and meaningful employment at the University for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The program has two streams – academic staff, and professional staff.

Academic staff stream

Offering postgraduate academic employment for a five year term, the Wingara Mura Leadership Program (Academic staff stream) is designed to employ, support and develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander early career academics.

The Program provides exceptional opportunities for outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander academics, enabling their significant contribution to teaching, research and service across the University’s faculties and centres. The Leadership Program offers employment roles designed to support and develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander early career academics, and, in addition to academic duties, the appointees will have an academic supervisor and a senior faculty mentor to support their development, as part of a holistic approach to career development.

Entry is via PhD or PhD candidature only so if you are currently enrolled in, eligible to commence, or have recently completed a PhD then you may want to submit your expression of interest.
