The Deputy-Vice Chancellor- Research works in partnership with academic leaders across the University to maintain and develop Sydney’s leading role within Australia and internationally as a pre-eminent research intensive university.

To realise this vision the University is implementing strategies that will:
- attract and nurture the brightest researchers and support them to undertake research that makes an original contribution to knowledge or understanding;
- focus its research activities to create areas of critical mass and coordinate investment in key strategic research areas;
- align its organisational structure to support capabilities in key disciplines and cross-disciplinary areas and
- build capacity to undertake many different kinds of research translation including intellectual property protection and commercialisation.

leads the delivery of major strategic collaborative research and education initiatives for the University, with a particular focus on areas where cross-faculty engagement and external partnerships are key to the academic enterprise. Major responsibilities include the core research facilities program and HMR+ implementation.
Ms Fiona Rohr: Executive Assistant to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Collaborations & Partnerships)
Lesley Ashton: Relieving Executive Director Research Operations, Coordination and Systems Planning, leads the coordinated and integrated administration of three portfolio groups (RGC, RIEA, RRADS).
Andrew Black: Director, Research Development and Collaboration
leads the development and implementation of research strategies, policies, programs and projects, for the university and individual researchers and research groups.
Lesley Ashton: Director, Research Grants and Contracts
leads the design and delivery of services, systems and processes to support researchers apply for and comply with conditions of grants and funding.
Andrew Tindell: Director, Commercial Development and Industry Partnerships
leads the development and implementation of research commercialisation strategies, policies, programs and projects, for the university and individual researchers and research groups.
Rebecca Halligan: Director, Research Integrity and Ethics Administration
leads the design and delivery of services, systems and processes to establish and maintain researcher and institutional compliance with standards and codes of conduct relevant to research.
Nathaniel Lewis: Director, Research Reporting, Analysis, Data and Systems:
leads the development and maintenance of research data sets and systems to enable analysis and reporting on the research capability of the University.
