Time-resolved spectroscopy of molecules. Photochemical Upconversion. Femtosecond transient absorption and luminescence upconversion spectroscopy.
The student will be involved in exploring various ways in which molecules may be exploited to bring about the realisation of third generation photovoltaics – cheap, thin film devices which circumvent the single-threshold paradigm which currently limits the first and second generation devices to efficiency maxima of about 30%. We are currently performing experiments on upconversion, singlet fission, as well as luminescence solar concentration.
Stipend available. Project funded by ARC and ASI.
