Australian Dentists Knowledge and Attitudes of HIV and Willingness to Conduct Rapid HIV Testing

Summary

The student will work with Dr Anthony Santella of the Western Sydney Sexual Health Centre and colleagues from the Centre for Oral Health at Westmead Hospital to implement and analyse a cross-sectional, online, national survey of dentists' knowledge and attitudes to HIV and willingness to conduct rapid HIV testing.

Synopsis

This project entails implementing an online survey to Australian dentists. The student will work closely with the research team to develop a comprehensive sampling frame of dentist affiliated groups who may send the email to their membership, answer queries from potential respondents , work with the Statistician from the University of Sydney School of Public Health to analyse the data, and co-author a conference presentation/poster and a peer-reviewed journal manuscript. This study will have important policy implications for the Ministry of Health as they explore opportunities to implement rapid HIV testing.
