Synopsis

Student evaluation of teaching plays an important role in assuring and improving the student experience of learning. Changes in the nature of higher education require changes in how we conceptualise and design evaluations of students’ experiences, so that such systems are both student-focused and institutionally aligned. This programme of research uses models of survey design, general linear models, and structural modelling methods to develop teaching evaluation instruments based on Student Learning Theory (e.g. Biggs & Tang, 2007; Prosser & Trigwell, 1999; Ramsden, 2003).
