GrowLab: Bringing Australian agriculture and food tech to the world

Agricultural and food technologies are poised to underpin one of Australia's most important industries: food and agribusiness. This talk provided an overview of what agricultural technologies are, the importance of remote sensing and space technologies to this sector and introduce GrowLab, a commercialisation training program for researchers who have developed relevant technologies for the agricultural or food sectors. GrowLab is a twelve week program running September to November in 2017 and is provided free of charge to applicants.

George Peppou Bio

George works in the mentoring team at Cicada Innovations, Australia's "super incubator" owned by four universities including the University of Sydney. Presently Cicada houses over 60 companies, many of which are underpinned by Australian university research, these businesses employ 400 staff of which more than 70% hold a PhD. At Cicada George heads up the agtech industry stream and GrowLab, the agtech and food tech commercialisation program. Prior to this George has worked in strategy, including developing the national food and agribusiness growth strategy.
