Research support

Central research support is provided by the Research Portfolio. Various other University bodies also contribute to research support.


Research Portfolio

The Research Portfolio provides services to support and assist researchers and academic leaders in the university with processes for managing research.

Services are provided by six teams under the leadership of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research): Professor Jill Trewhella.

Research Development

Research Development provides strategic advice to academic leaders and researchers on research opportunities, including major research initiatives as well as support to researchers seeking funding from all sources and with the preparation of high quality funding proposals.

Research Grants Administration and Funding (RGAF)

Research Grants Administration and Funding works closely with the Research Development team to help researchers access research funding from all government and private sources, including the ARC and the NHMRC, and facilitates effective post-award administration of research grants and research related contracts.

Research Integrity promotes the responsible conduct of research and assists researchers get the best results for human and animal ethics applications.

Sydnovate

Sydnovate works with industry partners and collaborators to secure funding and support for research and to assist researchers manage their Intellecutal Property and commercialise the outcomes of their research.

Research Analytics and Data Strategy (RADS)

Research Analytics and Data Strategy provides support to the DVCR and academic leaders on research performance, reporting and research data capture and analysis; and provides support for research systems including RIMs and IRMA.

Other support providers

Corporate Finance (Research)

Corporate Finance (Research) (CFR) opens new research accounts and provides financial management of the DVC (Research)’s portfolio. This encompasses the financial responsibilities for HERDC, ARC, NHMRC and centrally funded schemes.

CFR also provides financial leadership and direction to the senior managers and team leaders within Research Portfolio and across the research community.

Learning Solutions provides a number of programs for researchers:

Library

The University Library facilitates and supports the research programs of the University through a range of resources, services and infrastructure.

The Library provides an extensive array of information resources to ensure researchers have access to the latest research in their field. These resources include print and electronic collections of journals, books and databases that are networked to Sydney researchers irrespective of location and time.

Expert faculty liaison librarians for every school and department provide direct assistance to researchers in the discovery and use of resources.

Sydney eScholarship provides services and infrastructure supporting eResearch initiatives, scholarly publishing and open access as well as the programs of the Research Portfolio. The Library is a central service of the University
