Seeding the Commons project

The Seeding the Commons project aimed to help establish research data management planning processes, integrated with research practice, that support storage, identification, discovery and sharing of research data. Seeding the Commons was led by the Library, in partnership with the Research Portfolio and ICT and was funded by the Australian National Data Service (ANDS) for 12 months, finishing August 2012.

Activities

  • description of research data collections for discovery on the web
  • creation of a data management planning tool
  • creation of a website containing research data management guidelines
  • design and delivery of research data management training materials

  • information about researchers and projects will be findable in Google, increasing profile and collaboration
  • increased research impact through data citation
  • reduce the risk of data loss through data management storage and support
  • services that will continue beyond the project
