If you have a complaint or concern about a University of Sydney research project or activity, investigator, or about the conduct of the University of Sydney Animal Ethics Committee (AEC), you can contact the at the University. As part of the ethics approval process, investigators carrying out animal research or teaching in Australia agree to conduct their research or teaching in an ethical manner in accordance with the Australian code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes 8th Edition (NHMRC, 2013). Non-compliance occurs where investigators do not comply with the ethical principles and guidelines set out by the Code, and/or the conditions of their ethical approval. If your ethics submission request has been reviewed by the University of Sydney AEC and you wish to make an appeal against the AEC’s decision, please contact the at the University. In some instances a research complaint or report of non-compliance may raise concerns that might also constitute research misconduct. The consideration of matters relating to research misconduct is outside the scope of the AEC and will be referred to Research Integrity .
