Who approves my application?

Undergraduate pre-honours

Undergraduate pre-honours projects may be approved by the Head of Department, but if there is any doubt please contact Research Integrity for advice.

Low-risk sub-committees

Currently, Low Risk Honours student applications from Sydney Business School, the Faculty of Arts (including Conservatorium of Music) and the School of Psychology are being approved at the Faculty/School level by their established Human Ethics Sub-committees.

If you are an Honours student within the Business School, Faculty of Arts or School of Psychology, and your project is Low Risk (PDF), please submit your application to the relevant Faculty.

Masters and PhD students should submit their applications to the full HREC.

University of Sydney Human Research Ethics Committees (HRECs)

The University of Sydney HREC was established in 1990. There are now two Committees to more efficiently handle the large number of applications received.
