Funding types

This section provides information on types of funding for your research, where and how to apply for funding and who to contact for support in getting and managing your funding.

The processes for applying and managing funding will vary according to the type of funding organisation to which you are applying. Different processes also apply depending on whether you are seeking funding for research or a consultancy.

Government or non-commercial

Government and non-commercial agencies include:

  • Government departments
  • ARC
  • NHMRC
  • non-for-profit organisations
  • other universities
  • charities and
  • public research funding bodies such as Rural Research and Development Corporations (RDCs), research corporations and research foundations.

Industry or commercial

Commercial entities include:

  • for-profit and not-for-profit companies
  • CRCs and
  • institutions and partnerships with commercial interests.
