Aim

The aim of Future Fellowships is to attract and retain the best and brightest mid-career researchers to conduct their research in Australia. Preference will be given to those researchers who can demonstrate a capacity to build collaboration across industry and/or research institutions and/or with other disciplines. Future Fellowships will aim to encourage outstanding Australian researchers currently based overseas to return to Australia.

Eligibility

For the purposes of the Future Fellowships scheme, mid-career researchers are researchers who have between 5 and 15 years research experience since the award of their PhD (or equivalent research qualification) at the closing time of submission of Proposals.

Funding

Funded for four years up to $154,129 per annum.  Additional funding of up to $50, 000 per year may be used for infrastructure, equipment, travel and relocation costs directly related to the Future Fellow's research.

Application process
  1. Some Faculties request expressions of interest from potential candidates, for example the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Check with the Associate Dean Research in your Faculty for details of their process.

  3. Read the University of Sydney Guidelines for Future Fellowship applications (PDF - updated 10/01/2013).
  4. Contact the Research Grants and Contracts office
  5. Read the ARC Funding Rules and Instructions to Applicants.
  6. Submission of Eligibility Exemption Request (if applicable) by due date
  7. Create application in RMS and submit draft proposal to Research Grants and Contracts by internal closing date
  8. Complete Research Proposal Clearance Form and ARC Certification Proforma
  9. Submit complete final application by final application due date along with non assessor form (if applicable)
