The ARC funds research and researchers under the National Competitive Grants Program (NCGP).

Centres of Excellence ARC Centres of Excellence involve significant collaboration which will allow the complementary research resources of universities, publicly funded research organisations, other research bodies, governments and businesses to be concentrated to support research in all fields of research except Medical and Dental research.
Discovery Projects The Discovery Projects scheme provides funding for research projects that can be undertaken by individual researchers or research teams.
Industrial Transformation Research Program The Industrial Transformation Research Hubs scheme support collaborative research activity between the Australian higher education sector and industry designed to focus on strategic outcomes not independently realisable.
The Industrial Transformation Training Centres scheme fosters close partnerships between university-based researchers and other research end-users to provide Higher Degree by Research (HDR) and postdoctoral training for the end-user focused research industries.
Linkage Projects Linkage Projects support research and development projects which are collaborative between higher education researchers and other parts of the national innovation system, which are undertaken to acquire new knowledge, and which involve risk or innovation.

People support

NHMRC-ARC Dementia Research Development Fellowships Scheme This joint NHMRC-ARC scheme aims to support the best emerging dementia researchers and attract scientists into dementia research from a variety of fields.
Australian Laureate Fellowships Open to applications from outstanding researchers of international repute, the Australian Laureate Fellowships scheme encourages proposals involving Australian and non-Australian researchers by providing eligible Australian Laureate Fellows with Project Funding in addition to a salary supplement and salary-related (on-cost) support.

Discovery Indigenous

The Discovery Indigenous scheme provides support for Indigenous Researchers to undertake research projects that may lead to an understanding of a particular subject or that may meet the requirements of their postgraduate research degrees.

Future Fellowships

Future Fellowships promote research in areas of critical national importance by giving outstanding researchers incentives to conduct their research in Australia. The aim of Future Fellowships is to attract and retain the best and brightest mid-career researchers.

Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF)

The Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities scheme fosters collaboration through its support of the cooperative use of national and international research facilities.
