Industrial Transformation Research Program

The Industrial Transformation Research Program offers two schemes:

Priority areas

The ARC will only consider applications that directly relate to the priority areas. This priority areas for this round are:

  • future food storage
  • food processing
  • manufacturing capabilities
  • product opportunities and
  • other food-related research

Note that ‘manufacturing capabilities’ and ‘product opportunities’ are restricted to food-related research only.

  IT Research Hubs (ITRH)  IT Training Centres (ITTC)
Description

Collaborative research activity between the Australian higher education sector and industry designed to focus on strategic outcomes not independently realisable.

Close partnerships between university-based researchers and other research end-users to provide innovative Higher Degree by Research (HDR) and postdoctoral training for the end-user focused research industries. 
ITTC provides funding for at least ten (10) Higher Degree by Research candidates and three (3) postdoctoral fellows in each Training Centre.

Contribution Requirements Combined cash and in-kind contribution must match ARC request.
If any Partner Organisation has more than 100 employees, cash contribution must be at least 75% of ARC request.  
If PO has fewer than 100 employees, there is no minimum cash contribution.
No matched funding requirement. 
The proposal must demonstrate sufficient cash and in-kind contributions to support the research projects of the HDR candidates and PDFs.
Number expected Not stated - anticipate very few during each round (i.e., 1-3).  Original ARC factsheet suggested a target of 20 hubs to be created over five years. Anticipate about 10 per competition.
ARC plans to fund up to 50 ITTCs over five years.
