Research Information Management System (RIMS)

The Research Information Management System (RIMS) is the University’s tool for managing, and maintaining information on, research grants.

RIMS is an InfoEd software suite and the ‘Proposal Tracking (PT)’ module was implemented in 2008 as part of the Research Management Program (RMP).

Your RIMS access will be activated once you have completed the training.

Data in RIMS is maintained by the Research Grants Administration and Funding (RGAF) office (formerly known as the Research Office) and is used to support the management of existing research grants and new grant proposals.

Business units closely associated with RGAF, e.g. Faculty/School administration staff, Corporate Finance Research and Research Integrity, have predominately view-only access which provides the ability to search, track, and report on, grant activity from pre-application through to project completion

What is held in RIMS?

  • details of all known active research grants as at August 2008 were cleansed and migrated into RIMS (PT) for implementation in September 2008
  • all research grants awarded from external funding organisations awarded from 2008+ (inclusive) 3,984 records
  • all DVCR funded internal awards from 2008+ (inclusive)
  • employee details from HRIS (T2)are fed nightly into RIMS to populate the personnel table
