Aims Bridging Support Grants are offered to employees of The University of Sydney. Applications for ARC Discovery and NHMRC Project grants that were ranked highly but not funded are considered for this scheme.
Duration and level of funding Grants are offered for one year and aim to provide bridging support to enable research momentum to continue for this period to strengthen a subsequent application for external funding.   Bridging support fellows will not usually be eligible for a bridging support grant in the same year as the fellowship.

Recipients must be either:

  1. a paid employee of the University; or
  2. Conjoint/Clinical title holder (from an affiliated institution that has agreed to put all their research productivity including grant applications, postgraduate research student supervision, and publications through the University for administration) and should hold an appointment which extends to 31 December in the year of the bridging support grant. Honorary and Emeritus appointments are not eligible.
How to apply No additional application is required.
Key dates Offers are made in November each year shortly after ARC and NHMRC funding outcomes are known.
