The University of Sydney International Research Collaboration Award is offered to overseas researchers of high standing at any stage in their career to share and disseminate new and original ideas and/or techniques, initiate and undertake collaborative research and facilitate interaction and training of University staff and students. Visiting Academics are expected to make a substantial contribution to the academic life of the University. Successful applicants are expected to be based full-time at the University for the duration of their Award up to a maximum of 8 weeks.


For travel between 1 October 2015 and 30 September 2016. Only one successful application is permitted per annum.  No award shall exceed AUD$16,100 ($1,700/week living allowance and up to $2,500 airfares)

Information Session

An Information session will be held on the 7th of May 2015 between 12 and 1 PM in the Seminar Room, Office of Global Engagement, John Woolley Building (entrance next to Wallace Theatre, Science Road). This session will be held in conjunction with the International Program Development Fund (IPDF) which is administered through the Office of Global Engagement


Applicants and their host University of Sydney researcher must have an outstanding track record relative to opportunity in order to be short-listed.

  1. Read the International Research Collaboration Award (PDF)
  2. Find a University of Sydney academic sponsor (Host) and obtain approval to proceed.
  3. Get Host and Head of the host School/Faculty to sign Approval Form (this form is submitted with your application).
  4. Apply online

Note: Online applications should only be commenced after you have been endorsed by the Head of your host School/Faculty. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
