Media Launch

Dominik Mersch Gallery Award and SCA Promotional Video

Andrew Newman

Media representatives are invited to attend a special evening launch this Thursday for the Dominik Mersch Gallery Award and the new Sydney College of the Arts (SCA) Promotional Video.

Sydney College of the Arts, the Visual Arts Faculty of the University of Sydney, is proud to announce a new promotional video and a collaboration with Dominik Mersch Gallery. As part of an annual award, Dominik Mersch Gallery will provide an exhibition space to show the work of one or more postgraduate candidates from SCA. A panel will select the artists from SCA’s end of year Postgraduate Degree Show.

“Offering an exhibition space to show their works, is the best way to support young and promising artists” says Dominik Mersch.

The inaugural winners are Andrew Newman and Tom Jefferson. Newman is completing a Master of Visual Arts (MVA), in the Film and Digital Art studio. His work deals with new media and performance. Jefferson is completing a Master of Documentary Photography. His work investigates urban life through photography and slide shows.

The first SCA promotional video provides an exciting and refreshing insight into the student experience at SCA. The clip was produced by Jack McGrath and Kyuwon Kang, both studying a MVA in the Film and Digital Art studio at SCA.

At a special media preview at 6pm on Thursday 5 March, Professor Colin Rhodes, Dean, Sydney College of the Arts, Dominik Mersch, the award winners and film makers will be available to discuss the promotional video and award. Light refreshments will be served.
