If, during the week prior to an essay or project due date, you cannot complete your essay or project due to serious illness or misadventure, you can apply for an extension.
The application for an extension must be submitted to your lecturer before the due date of the assignment. This form is for students who require an extension of time for an assignment of up to one week (five working days). For extension requests greater than one week, please complete an Application for Special Consideration.

If your work during a teaching period or performance in an assessment has been affected by serious illness or misadventure, you should submit an Application for Special Consideration to the SCA Student Administration within five days of the affected assessment.

If you have completed undergraduate studies at another institution or in another degree at the University of Sydney and you wish to have this study count towards your Bachelor of Visual Arts degree, you should lodge an Application for Credit.

Application for Leave (also referred to as Suspension of Candidature) is for students who have commenced their degree program and would like to place their study on hold for one or two semesters. Applications for Leave must be lodged no later than the relevant census date. The University’s Timetable Unit provides an online Session Calendar of the relevant dates.

In the letter you will receive from Sydney College of the Arts, notifying that your application for leave has been successful, you would be advised to contact the Faculty in the semester prior to your recommencement in the course. After you have advised the Faculty that you will be recommencing your candidature, a letter will be sent to you detailing the dates and requirements for re-enrolment.
If, due to family circumstances, financial difficulties, or misadventure, you are unable to attend your timetabled classes for a particular period of time within a semester, you may be granted Special Leave. Special Leave can be approved for a maximum of four weeks. You will need to complete an application for Special Leave and submit it with supporting documentation to SCA Student Administration. If you are granted Special Leave, you will need to meet all assessment requirements for the units of study in which you are enrolled.

You may lodge an appeal on the grounds that due academic process has not been observed by the Faculty in relation to issues of assessment, coursework, special consideration, marks and final grades. You may vary your studio major study in the Bachelor of Visual Arts provided that:
- you have successfully completed first semester of the first year studies and have credit average in all units of study;
- there are space and facilities available in the studio you wish to study in;
- the unit of study co-ordinator of the studio major is satisfied that you have appropriate skills for study in that studio. This may be determined at an interview/portfolio presentation.
You must submit a request to change your studio prior to the commencement of the semester for which the variation is to be effective (please note limited approval is granted in the final year of the degree)

If you are able to resume your studies at a later date, you would have to re-apply for admission. Some credit might then be given for work that you had done up to your withdrawal, but you would be commencing a new candidature. If in any year you fail to re-enrol, your candidature will be regarded as having lapsed, and you will be required to re-apply for admission to candidature if you wish to continue your studies.
