Interview

Please note that the selection process is a competitive process. There are often more applications than there are places on offer and students nominate the same institutions as choices. A panel of academics rigorously assess the applications and check eligibility eg: academic merit, quality of application and suitability to institution.

Applicants will be assessed for interview based on the above and will be invited via their university email to attend a 10 minute interview with the Exchange Committee. Following the interview process, where more than one applicant wishes to be an exchange student at the same host institution, the panel will rank applicants and nominate candidates for exchange. Nominated applicants will then be expected to complete an application to the Host Institution.

Students must maintain a credit average or higher to remain eligible.

Successful exchange applicants must ensure they have sufficient funds for the exchange period. Some institutions and consulates ask to see evidence of this up front.

It must be understood that the Host University reserves the right to accept or decline any applicant.

SCA students going overseas

For term dates and specific information regarding each institution please refer to the SCA Exchange Information download. Exact dates will be provided by the Host Institution.

Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements, including visas if required, and should inform the host institution of their expected date and time of arrival and should enrol at the institution on the first week day after their arrival. While on an exchange program students are subject to the same code of conduct as home students and will have access to all school facilities, Library, Students' Union.

Students are responsible for meeting living expenses and the cost of any necessary materials. The Host Institution will comply with requests for documentation such as status letters, certification required for immigration control, etc.

SCA does not recommend that students book flights or leave Australia until confirmation from the host institution is received and visas, if required, are in order.

Accommodation

Please refer to the exchange institution web site for assistance in securing accommodation. When an exchange of accommodation has not been arranged, students are reminded that they will be responsible for securing and financing their own accommodation.
