Interview Guidelines

We are committed to the education of professional practicing visual artists. Our admission process is comprehensive and focuses on selection of the best candidates motivated for a future in contemporary visual arts practice.

Unlike other similar visual arts institutions, we do not base admission solely on academic qualifications, believing that artistic merit is best assessed through the considering your portfolio and your motivation at an interview. The interview process provides you with the opportunity to discuss with academic staff your educational goals and their alignment with those of SCA.

You must bring your portfolio to the interview.

Interviews are about 15 minutes long and are conducted by a panel of 2-3 academic staff. Be prepared to talk about your work. The interview panel will want to know about your ideas, what you are interested in, and which works you feel are more successful than others and why.
