This scholarship has been donated by The Women's Plan Foundation.

1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established to assist students studying at the University of Sydney Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery (Sydney Nursing School) who have demonstrated interest in reproductive health and family planning as a component of women’s health in developing countries.

b. This Scholarship has been donated by The Women’s Plan Foundation.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must be Australian Citizens or Australian permanent residents.

b. Applicants must be currently enrolled in one of the following within the Sydney Nursing School.

I. postgraduate degree, or 
II. undergraduate honours year.

c. Applicants must be able to demonstrate interest in reproductive health and family planning as a component of women’s health in developing countries.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit, and
II. a curriculum vitae outlining relevant professional experience, volunteer work or special need, and
III. a personal statement outlining their academic record and demonstrating their interest in reproductive health and family planning as a component of women’s development in third world countries.

b. Preference may be given to applicants with the ability to demonstrate hardship (illness, physical disability, financial need, family circumstances or other hardship).

c. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Nursing School and the Women’s Plan Foundation, or their nominated delegate(s). 

4. Value

a. The Scholarship is valued at $1,000 and is paid as a one-off payment.

b. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

c. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. Not applicable.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol, or
II. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.  

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed. 

7. Other

a. The recipient will be expected to speak later in the year at a Women’s Plans Foundation (WPF) function about what the Award is achieving and be featured on the WPF website.
