Dr. Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship

Background:

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India. During his five years in office, Dr Abdul Kalam’s focus was on transforming India into a developed nation by 2020. A distinguished scientist and aeronautical engineer by training, Dr Kalam advocated that it is possible to work cooperatively for an economically developed, prosperous and peaceful society.  

In recognition of his contribution to his profession, Dr Kalam was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of Sydney in 2011. The Dr Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarships celebrate his commitment to education, and his endeavours to support outstanding students to develop as future leaders.

Open to:

Applicants must be an international student and have an unconditional offer of admission for a masters by coursework program in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. 

Applicants must have achieved a minimum distinction average (equivalent to 75 at the University of Sydney) in their undergraduate studies.  

Students who have already commenced their postgraduate studies in the Faculty, or students transferring from another postgraduate program are not eligible.

Value: 50% of the tuition fees

Complex Systems Postgraduate Entry Scholarship

Background:

The Scholarship aims to encourage and assist domestic commencing candidates with completing their studies in the Master of Complex Systems at the University of Sydney.

Open to: Open to all Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents, who have an unconditional offer of admission for the Masters of Complex Systems within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.
  Applicants must have achieved a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 75 and above, or equivalent, in their previous tertiary studies.
Value: $10,000 paid in two installments.
Duration:  1 year

Information Technologies Scholarships

School of Information Technologies Postgraduate Coursework Entry Scholarship

Background:

This Scholarship has been established to encourage and support high achieving candidates commencing in the Master of Information Technology (MIT), Master of Information Technology Management (MITM) and the Master of Information Technology //Master of Information Technology Combined Degree program.

Open to:

Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission for one of the following coursework programs: 

  • Master of Information Technology (MIT),
  • Master of Information Technology Management (MITM), or
  • (MIT/MITM) within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.  

Applicants must have achieved a minimum distinction average (equivalent to 75 at the University of Sydney) in their undergraduate studies. 

Students who have already commenced their studies in one of the above named programs in the Faculty, or that transfer into one of those programs from another postgraduate program are not eligible.

Value: $6,000 paid in two installments.
Duration: 

One year only. Students enrolled part-time will receive 50% of the full-time rate of this Scholarship and will be tenable for a two year period.

School of Information Technologies Master of Data Science Entry Scholarship

Background:

This Scholarship has been established to encourage and support high achieving candidates commencing in the Masters of Data Science (MDS) degree program.

Open to:

Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission for the Masters of Data Science within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney. 

Applicants must be a graduate of a quantitative degree program. A quantitative program includes Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Economics and Finance or other disciplines that are deemed quantitative by the relevant School Academic Director. As a guideline, the curriculum of a quantitative discipline should include a minimum of 12 credit points of mathematics or statistics at the tertiary level. 

Applicants must have achieved a minimum distinction average (equivalent to 75 at the University of Sydney) in their undergraduate studies. If an applicant has completed postgraduate studies in addition to an undergraduate program, they must have a distinction average in both programs, unless the undergraduate degree is unrelated to a quantitative studies. 

Students who have already commenced their studies in one of the above named programs in the Faculty, or that transfer into one of those programs from another postgraduate program are not eligible. 

Value: $6,000 
Duration: 

One year only. Students enrolled part-time will receive 50% of the full-time rate of this Scholarship and will be tenable for a two year period.

School of Information Technologies Master of Health Technology Innovation Entry Scholarship

Background:

This Scholarship has been established to encourage and support high achieving candidates commencing in the Master of Health Technology Innovation (MHTI) degree program.

Open to:

Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission for the Masters of Health Technology Innovation within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney. 

Applicants must have achieved a minimum distinction average (equivalent to 75 at the University of Sydney) in their undergraduate studies. 

Students who have already commenced their studies in one of the above named programs in the Faculty, or that transfer into one of those programs from another postgraduate program are not eligible.

Value: $6,000

The School of Information Technologies Postgraduate Coursework Diversity Scholarship

Background:

The purpose of the School of Information Technologies Diversity Scholarships is to expand and enrich the School’s student community by recognising and supporting outstanding students from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. The Scholarship aims to help them achieve their academic goals in Information Technology.

Open to:

International applicants whose country of origin/citizenship is from Latin America, the Middle East or Asia Pacific. The School reserves the right to prioritise/restrict individual countries within the stated regions, each year, according to its strategic objectives. 

Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission at the University of Sydney for one the following postgraduate coursework programs: 

  • Master of Information Technology (MIT),
  • Master of Data Science (MDS),
  • Master of Information Technology Management (MITM), or
  • MIT/MITM at the time of the Scholarship application closing date, for the relevant semester it is being offered for. 

Applicants must have achieved a minimum distinction average (equivalent to 75 at the University of Sydney) in their undergraduate studies. 

Students who have already commenced their studies in one of the above named programs in the Faculty, or that transfer into one of those programs from another postgraduate program are not eligible.

One year only. Students enrolled part-time will receive 50% of the full-time rate of this Scholarship and will be tenable for a two year period.

No separate application is required.

Applicants who apply for the School of Information Technologies Postgraduate Coursework Entry Scholarship will automatcially be considered for the Diversity Scholarship.
