University of Sydney Bridging Course Scholarships
For: Local students who are commencing an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney and need to undertake a bridging course in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics or Biology, and have been disadvantaged financially, have a disability, or have relocated from a rural/remote area of Australia.
Value: $300 - $400
Duration: One-off payment for the bridging course.

The Shelley Phillips Scholarship
For: Commencing female student with a good academic record who has relocated from a rural or remote area of Australia.
Value: $2500
Duration: One-off payment.

Bruton Educational Trust Scholarship
For: Commencing rural or regional students at the University of Sydney who demonstrate academic ability, as well as financial disadvantage.
Value: $10,000 per year
Duration: For the length of your degree.

Rural Sustainability Scholarships
For: Commencing rural or regional students in the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources who demonstrate academic ability, as well as financial disadvantage.
Value: $10,000
Duration: For 2 - 3 years.

Short-listed students will be asked by the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources to submit a written statement to support their passion for sustainability, and may be required to attend a telephone or in-person interview.
Environmental Sustainability Scholarships
For: Commencing Bachelor of Environmental Systems students who have been disadvantaged financially, have a disability, or have relocated from a rural/remote area of Australia.
Value: $10,000
Duration: For 2 - 3 years.

The V. John Plummer Scholarships in Economics and Business

The William John and Lizzie May Sinclair Scholarship
Established in 2012 by a bequest from Mr William Robson Sinclair, in honour of his parents, the purpose of this scholarship is to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and students from a disadvantaged background, who are studying Engineering at the University of Sydney.
Scholarship Amount $25,000 per year for the duration of the students degree program including honours.

Commonwealth income support for students
New income support for students
Centrelink will pay 2 new scholarships to students in higher education to assist with the costs of studying and living away from home. You don't need to apply for these scholarships - they will be paid directly to eligible customers.

The Student Start-up Scholarship
For: Full-time students in an approved scholarship course, who are receiving Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY.
How much: $2,050 in 2013 and indexed. The Student Start Up Scholarship will be paid in two instalments, at the beginning of each semester, in each year of a student's course of study at University.
How to apply: No application is necessary. This will be paid directly to eligible students through Centrelink.

The Relocation Scholarship
For: Full-time students in an approved scholarship course, who are receiving Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY and who are dependents who have to live away from the family home for study or who meet specific independence criteria.
How much: In 2013, students on the Relocation Scholarship will be paid at either the higher rate of $4,048 or the lower rate of $1,012 and indexed. Check with Centrelink to determine which rate you are eligible for.
How to apply: No application is necessary. This will be paid directly to eligible students through Centrelink.

Commonwealth Indigenous Scholarships
For: Commencing Indigenous students who need help with educational costs.
How much: These payments are indexed and will change on an annual basis. In 2013 the payment will be worth $4,659.
Duration: One semester (half paid on receipt of acceptance form, half paid in April.)
