HJ Cowan Architectural Science Scholarship

Background:

HJ Cowan Architectural Science Scholarship was initiated in 2009 and established in 2010 by a generous donation of AU$50,000 from Mrs Renate Cowan, Dr Judith Cowan and Mr David Hartstein in memory of Professor Henry Jacob ('Jack') Cowan who committed a significant part of his life to ensuring the success of the Faculty of Architecture and the Architecture Science Review. In over 50 years of dedication to and passion for architectural science, Professor Cowan inspired many students, fellow academics, teachers and researchers world wide. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage research in the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning by financially assisting a promising student to pursue research in Architectural Science

Open to: The criteria for award is enrolment in a research degree in the Faculty in the area of Architectural Science and the current recipient of a University or Federally funded scholarship.  
  The scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding full-time PhD research student on the recommendation of the Professor of Architectural Science provided the student is of sufficient merit as determined by a committee of at least three academic members, chaired by the Professor of the Discipline of Architectural Science

David Noel Murray Scholarship

Background:

Founded in 1972 by a bequest from David Noel Murray who bequeathed his residuary estate to the University to establish a scholarship in the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning.  The object of the scholarship is to enable a graduate with the degree Master of Architecture from this University to undertake a full time postgraduate research course within the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning

Smart Cities, Smart Housing and Smart Homes Postgraduate Research Scholarship

Background:

Funded by the School of Architecture Design and Planning as part of the ARC Discovery Project: Making Cities Smart: Emergent Geographies of Smart Urbanism, a unique opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar to conduct research in the area of smart cities and smart housing.

Open to:

Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or citizens of New Zealand, with an unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a PhD within the School of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Sydney, who are willing to undertake research in the field of field of smart cities and smart housing.  Applicants must have an academic background in the area of urban geography, urban studies, planning or housing studies, have completed a four-year bachelor’s degree with Honours Class I or equivalent, and demonstrated the potential for research.

Value:  The Scholarship will provide an annual stipend allowance of $26,682 per annum (indexed to the RTP rate on the anniversary of award). 
Duration: Up to three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. An extension of up to 6 months is possible.
