The Beth Spence Scholarship

Background:

The purpose of the Beth Spence Scholarship is to provide support for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate within the Sydney Nursing School at the University of Sydney.  It aims to improve the integration of care for individuals and families at times of vulnerability.

Open to: Open to Australian citizens or permanent residents who satisfy the general eligibility criteria for the PhD at Sydney Nursing School.
  Hold a current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration as a registered nurse or midwife
  Are currently enrolled PhD candidates (or apply as a PhD candidate in conjunction with the Beth Spence Scholarship Application) in the Sydney Nursing School
  Candidates in their final full-time equivalent year (1 year full-time or 2 years part-time) of PhD candidature are not eligible to apply.

Skellern Family Foundation Scholarship

Background:

A unique opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar enrolled within The University of Sydney Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery.

 

This Scholarship was established in 2013 by a generous gift from the Skellern Family Foundation to assist currently practising early to mid-career nurses and midwives to complete a PhD as a full-time candidate.

 Open to:

1. Applicants must be currently enrolled as either a full-time or a part-time PhD candidate within Sydney Nursing School who at the time of application has not completed a period of more than two years equivalent full-time study load (EFTSL) of their candidature.

  2. Applicants must be currently registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered nurse or midwife.
  3. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident (applicants who are currently applying for permanent residency will be considered).
Value and Duration:

A successful full-time recipient of the Scholarship will be provided with an annual stipend allowance of $30,000 per annum for up to three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Britton Craigie Scholarship

Background:

A unique opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar who is completing research within the Sydney Nursing School at the University of Sydney.

 

This Scholarship was established in 2016 from a bequest from the Estate of Claire Rosaline Craigie.

Open to: 1. Applicants must be currently enrolled as a domestic PhD student within the Sydney Nursing School at the University of Sydney.
 

2. Applicants must have completed two and a half years full time or equivalent part time study towards their PhD within the Sydney Nursing School at the University of Sydney.

  3. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen.
  4. An applicant who was a recipient of this scholarship previouslyy is not eligible.
Value and Duration: The Scholarship will provide a stipend allowance of $15,000 for 6 months, subject to satisfactory academic performance. If the successful applicant is enrolled part-time they will recieve the same amount during these 6 months. Part time students should obtain independent tax advice in regards part time scholarship payment.
