Laing O'Rourke Australia Indigenous Scholarship in Engineering

Background: With funding generously provided by Laing O'Rourke Australia Ltd, this Scholarship aims to encourage and support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to undertake studies in electrical/mechanical engineering or project management. The Scholarship also provides professional experience opportunities with the funder.

Open to:

Applicants must be Australian citizens who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be a recent school leaver.

Applicants must qualify and subsequently enrol into a Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Information Engineering or Project Management undergraduate program in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney. Combined degree programs are not eligible.

Engineering and Information Technologies Leadership Scholarship

Background: The Engineering & IT Leadership Scholarship is one of the most valuable undergraduate scholarships in Australia, offering generous financial support and extensive leadership development. The aim is to shape future industry leaders by fostering student’s passion and motivation, and providing them with hands-on experience as well as technical skills highly valued by prospective employers. Each participant will also be prepared to become an excellent communicator, with the confidence to work effectively within teams and with clients.
  It's this well-rounded experience that will help students to stand head and shoulders above the crowd once they have completed their degree. They will be offered a structured professional experience program with some of Australia's leading firms, giving them the opportunity to build their skills and networks for up to 20 weeks during their degree. 

Open to:

Recent school leavers who are an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident, that qualify and enter into an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.

Applicants must obtain an ATAR of 98 or higher in the NSW HSC or equivalent. Exceptional applicants with an ATAR of up to 3 points lower may be accepted at the discretion of the Associate Dean (Education) if they meet any of the diversity/equity criteria.

Value and Duration:

The Scholarship is valued up to $18,000 per annum for four years.

$12,000 will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. This will be supplemented with a Leadership Development Fund of up to $6,000. The Leadership Development Fund can be used to spend on Faculty endorsed leadership development programs and full details on how the funds can be spent will be provided during the Leadership Scholarship orientation.

Propel Mobility Scholarship

Background: Established in 2017, the Propel Mobility Scholarship aims to encourage high school students to participate in Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies school engagement activities and to promote global mobility.
Open to: The Scholarship is open to all Australian domestic high school students who attend a minimum of four Faculty approved school engagement activities prior to the completion of year twelve and subsequently enrol into a Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies course at the University of Sydney. Eligible school students must complete the required number of activities from year nine up until year twelve. Students are encouraged to complete at least one activity per year.
  The scholarship is to be applied towards a study abroad, exchange or other mobility opportunity.
  You do not need to apply, but must register and attend the nominated activities.

Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies Credit Agreement Scholarship

Background:

The Scholarship has been funded in 2017 by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies to assist high achieving students who applied for admission via a formal credit recognition agreement, or other agreement which has been approved by the Dean as being recognised as permitting participating in this Scholarship. 

Open to:

International students that have received an unconditional offer of admission to an eligible undergraduate course within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney, and have a WAM of 75 (or equivalent) in their current studies. 

Applicants must have applied for admission to the Faculty through:

a formal credit recognition agreement that the Faculty, or one of its schools, has entered into with an overseas higher education partner institution which permits eligibility for this Scholarship, or

an alternative international agreement that has been recognised as permitting eligibility for this Scholarship, under the discretion of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.

Applicants must be enrolling into an eligible course(s) which will be stated in the scholarship advertising.  

Currently applications are only acceptable from students applying from Harbin Institute of Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology – Weihai for students enrolling into either the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or Bachelor of Engineering (Software). 

This round is for students who commenced their studies at Sydney University in Semester One or Semester Two 2018 only. 

Value: $5,000 per annum, which will be paid in two instalments after the census date of each seemster.

National Broadband Network Co. Undergraduate Scholarship in Engineering and IT for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander

Background:

Established in 2014, this Scholarship has been generously funded by the National Broadband Network Co (NBN Co) to encourage prospective and enrolled students that identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to pursue further studies in civil engineering, electrical and information engineering, project management and information technologies at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.

Open to:

Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and who apply and whom subsequently enrol into a civil engineering, electrical and information engineering, project management, or information technologies undergraduate program offered by the University of Sydney.

Applicants cannot hold any other primary scholarship offered by the University of Sydney.

Current students undertaking studies in one of the eligible programs at the University of Sydney are also eligible providing they have at least one full-time year of candidature remaining and have a minimum weighted average mark of 65.

Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a strong interest in cyber security.

The Muriel Anderson Scholarship for female students in the Faculty of Engineering & IT

Background:

Established in 2004, this Scholarship has been generously donated by Muriel Millicent Anderson to assist female students beginning their studies in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.

Open to:

Applicants must be a female Australian Citizen, or Australian permanent resident and a recent school leaver that qualifies and enrols into any engineering undergraduate program, including combined degrees, within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.

Applicants must have obtained an ATAR of at least 95 in the NSW HSC or equivalent.

Margaret Hamer Scholarship for Women in Engineering

Background:

Established in 2013, this Scholarship has been generously donated by the Hamer family to encourage prospective female students with a strong academic record to pursue further studies in engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.

William McIIrath Rural Scholarship

Background:

The William McIlrath Rural Scholarship is established to encourage and assist rural students from NSW to undertake a full-time undergraduate program in the Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.

Open to: Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia
  Open to students from remote or very remote areas of New South Wales. These students are identified by the residential postcode or address used within the Australian Standard Geographical Classification - Remoteness Area classification system (or the successor or replacement of that program).
  Applicants must not have previously completed requirements for an undergraduate degree course or higher degree.
  The scholarship must be taken up in the year for which the offer is made. No deferment of the scholarship is allowed.
Other Infromation: As part of the scholarship application, you will be required to submit proof of non-semester address. This will be used to verify that your postcode is classified as ‘remote’ or ‘very remote’ by the Australian Government. You should check this prior to submitting an application. If your postcode does not fall into one of these two classifications you will be deemed ineligible for the scholarship.
Value: The scholarship will pay $10,000 in the first year, and $7,000 for each subsequent year
Duration:  The Scholarship is valued at a maximum of $24,000 and is tenable for three years only. Recipients undertaking a four-year degree will not receive the fourth year funding.

Background:

Established in 2015, this Scholarship was generously donated by Metso Australia Limited to support students entering their third year in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.

Open to:

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident commencing their third year of studies in a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.

Applicants must have achieved a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65 in their current degree at the time of application.

Background:

Established in 1896, this Scholarship has been generously donated by Sir Peter Nicol Russell, and later became known as the Peter Nicol Russell Bequest, to encourage higher education in mechanical and mechatronic engineering.

Background:

Established in 2014, this Scholarship has been generously funded by a donor to assist students within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.

Open to:

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Australian permanent resident from a low-socio-economic background (defined as financial hardship, disability, significant medical hardship, family hardship, EAS or equivalent listed school) or that identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Applicants must be a recent school leaver that qualifies and enrols into a Bachelor of Engineering (Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering) within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.

Applicants must achieve an ATAR of 95 or above.

In the event that a commencing student is not identified, those enrolled in their first year of studying with the Bachelor of Engineering (Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering) may apply.

Background:

Established in 2013, this Scholarship has been generously donated by Rockend Technology Pty Ltd to encourage and support highly motivated and academically talented students to pursue further studies.

Open to:

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident and be enrolled full-time in either the Master of Information Technology, Master of Information Technology Management, or about to commence their 4th year of studies in either a Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology, Bachelor of Information Technology, or a Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Software) at the University of Sydney.
