Engineering and Information Technologies Leadership Scholarship

Background: The Engineering & IT Leadership Scholarship is one of the most valuable undergraduate scholarships in Australia, offering generous financial support and extensive leadership development. The aim is to shape future industry leaders by fostering student’s passion and motivation, and providing them with hands-on experience as well as technical skills highly valued by prospective employers. Each participant will also be prepared to become an excellent communicator, with the confidence to work effectively within teams and with clients.
  It's this well-rounded experience that will help students to stand head and shoulders above the crowd once they have completed their degree. They will be offered a structured professional experience program with some of Australia's leading firms, giving them the opportunity to build their skills and networks for up to 20 weeks during their degree. 
Open to: Candidates with strong interpersonal and communication skills, leadership qualities, creativity, innovation, and self‑motivation
  This scholarship is not based entirely on academic results, however a high ATAR is required. If you are expecting an ATAR of 98 or above in the NSW HSC (or equivalent), you should consider applying.

Propel Mobility Scholarship

Background: Established in 2017, the Propel Mobility Scholarship aims to encourage high school students to participate in Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies school engagement activities and to promote global mobility.
Open to: The Scholarship is open to all Australian domestic high school students who attend a minimum of four Faculty-run school engagement activities prior to the completion of year twelve and subsequently enrol into a Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies course at the University of Sydney. Eligible school students must complete four activities from year nine up until year twelve. Students are encouraged to complete at least one activity per year.
  The scholarship is to be applied towards a study abroad, exchange or other mobility opportunity.
  You do not need to apply, but must register and attend the nominated activities.

The Muriel Anderson Scholarship for female students in the Faculty of Engineering & IT

Background:

The Muriel Anderson Scholarship for female students in the Faculty of Engineering & IT was established to encourage and assist female students who are beginning their studies in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.

Open to: The scholarships shall be open to all female citizens or permanent residents of Australia who qualify in the final year of schooling to enter the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney with an ATAR of 95 or above
  The scholarship is tenable in any specialisation in the disciplines of Chemical, Biomedical, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering.

Margaret Hamer Scholarship for Women in Engineering

Background:

The Margaret Hamer Scholarship for Women in Engineering was established to encourage prospective female students with a strong academic record to pursue further studies in Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering & Information Technologies. 

Open to: The scholarship shall be open to all female Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents who are in their final year of schooling and qualify to enter and enrol in any Bachelor of Engineering Honours degree in any specialisation at the Faculty of Engineering & Information Technologies. 
  Combined degrees are also eligible.

William McIIrath Rural Scholarship

Background:

The William McIlrath Rural Scholarship is established to encourage and assist rural students from NSW to undertake a full-time undergraduate program in the Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.

Open to: Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia
  Open to commencing students from remote or very remote areas of New South Wales. These students are identified by the residential postcode or address used within the Australian Standard Geographical Classification - Remoteness Area classification system (or the successor or replacement of that program).
  Applicants must not have previously completed requirements for an undergraduate degree course or higher degree.
  The scholarship must be taken up in the year for which the offer is made. No deferment of the scholarship is allowed.

The Peter Nicol Russell Undergraduate Scholarships

Background:

The Peter Nicol Russell Undergraduate Scholarships was established to encourage higher education in mechanical and mechatronic Engineering and is offered to candidates in the degrees of the Bachelor of Engineering Honours in Mechanical and/or Mechatronic Engineering.

Open to: All Australian citizens or Permanent residents who qualify for entry and enrol full-time into the Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Mechanical or Mechatronic)
  Combined degrees are not eligible
  Shall not be awarded to an applicant who is of more than three years standing from the ATAR on the basis of which the application is considered.  However, an exception can be made in cases where the applicant has been engaged for the full period following completion of their HSC or equivalent, in a program of employment and/or study related to the practice of engineering.
  Deferment of the Scholarship is not permitted
  The scholarship shall be tenable in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney and shall not be transferable to another faculty or university.

Undergraduate Scholarship in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering

Background:

The Undergraduate Scholarship in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies was established to assist students within the faculty at the University of Sydney.

Open to: The scholarship is open to all undergraduate students who are Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents from a low socio-economic background or of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who qualify and enrol into an aeronautical or aerospace engineering course within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney. 
  Students must be in their final year of school upon application and achieve an ATAR of 95 or above.
  In the event that the scholarship is offered mid-year, the Faculty may dispense with the requirement that students must be in their final year of school upon application. Students who otherwise meet the other terms, but are now in their first year of study may also apply.
  Preference will also be given to students from a listed EAS disadvantaged rural school.

Frances Marion Smith Scholarship in Civil Engineering

Background: The Frances Marion Smith Scholarship in Civil Engineering was established in 2014 by alumnus Richard Smith BE (Civil) '61 in loving memory of his mother to assist students studying Civil Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.
Open to: The Scholarship is open to Undergraduate students entering their second or later year of study in Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney.

Rockend Scholarship in Information Technologies and Software Engineering

Background:

The Rockend Scholarship in Information Technologies and Software Engineering was established to encourage highly motivated and academically talented Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident students to pursue further studies. 

Open to:

Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents. 

  Students enrolled full-time in the Master of Information Technology degree program with a credit average (65%) in an associated undergraduate Information Technology degree program at the University of Sydney, or be enrolled full-time and about to commence their 4th year of studies within either a Bachelor of Information Technologies, or a Bachelor of Software Engineering at the University of Sydney, with a credit average (65%) or above.
  Students studying either of the two undergraduate programs listed above as part of a combined degree program are also eligible. 
  Students cannot hold any other primary scholarship, or have been a previous recipient of this Scholarship.

Background:

This scholarship was established for the encouragement of higher education in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.

Open to:

Australian citizens or permanent residents who are in their final year of schooling who qualify and subsequently enrol in a single or combined undergraduate degree in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney.

  Applicants will need to secure an ATAR of 93.00 or more to qualify as recipient of this scholarship.

School of Information Technologies Scholarships

Tata Consultancy Services Undergraduate Scholarship

Background: The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Undergraduate Scholarship was established in 2010 by a donation from Tata Consultancy Services. The scholarship shall be awarded to a candidate from a NSW Department of Education and Communities Low Socio-economic Transitional Equity Funding Program (formerly NSW Priority Schools Funding Program) high school commencing studies in the Bachelor of Computer Science & Technology (BCST), Bachelor of Computer Science & Technology (Advanced), or the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) degrees in the School of Information Technologies.
Open to: Applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa.
  Applicants must have just completed Year 12 or equivalent at school on the NSW Department of Education and Communities Low Socio-economic Transitional Equity Funding Program (formerly NSW Priority Schools Funding Program) list, and/or can demonstrate financial disadvantage/hardship and qualify to enter the BCST, BCST (Advanced) or BIT. 
  Applicants must be able to demonstrate in the scholarship application their: Commitment to the university and a career in IT; Leadership ability;Strong communication skills; Creativity and problem solving; Community involvement 
  Students enrolled in combined degrees are not eligible.
