Douglas and Lola Douglas Scholarship in Health Sciences – Physiotherapy

Background:

The Douglas and Lola Douglas Scholarship supports students who exhibit outstanding academic performance in the undergraduate Physiotherapy honours degree.

Open to: Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents.
  Students must be currently enrolled full-time in the third year of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) honours year and remain enrolled full-time to complete honours in the following academic year.
  Recipients of The University of Sydney Outstanding Achievement Scholarship or The University of Sydney Scholarship for School Leavers (Merit Award) or current holders of a scholarship with a value of $6,000 or above are not eligible to to apply.

Cerebral Palsy Alliance Professor Henry J Cowan Memorial Scholarship

Background:

The Cerebral Palsy Alliance scholarship supports students to pursue their studies and to encourage their future career in the field of disability.

Open to: Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents who are available to undertake a final fieldwork placement with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
  Current students of the University of Sydney Faculty of Health Sciences who are enrolled full-time in either of the courses of: Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Physiotherapy, 
  Applicants must demonstrate an interest in the field of disability & paediatrics, and have strong academic and/or practical achievement in the paediatric study components, satisfactory academic achievement, and pass in all practical units prior to final practicums.
  An interest in cerebral palsy is desirable and in pursuing a career in the field of disability.
  Students enrolled in the Master of Occupational Therapy, or Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) must contact the Work Integrated Learning OT academic, for a letter confirming that a placement at Cerebral Palsy Alliance would meet their placement requirements.

Faculty of Health Sciences Student Leadership Award

Background:

The Faculty of Health Sciences Student Leadership Award supports undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework or research) students who have demonstrated sustained, outstanding leadership during the period of their enrolment in the Faculty of Health Science.

Open to: Students or student teams may nominate themselves or be nominated by a peer or academic staff member. 
  Nominees must demonstrate sustained outstanding leadership in one of the following categories:
 
  • student leadership in The University of Sydney
  • student leadership in the Faculty of Health Sciences
  • student leadership in their Discipline or profession
  • student leadership on a health related community issue.
Value: Each successful student or student team will receive a certificate and $1,000.

Deans Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Undergraduate Scholarship

Background:

This Scholarship is open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander undergraduate students who are commencing the Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), or the Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Open to: Those who have obtained an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) in the NSW Higher School Certificate (or equivalent), and 
  who have been offered a place and are commencing their first year of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), or the Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney
  Students must commence their studies in Semester One 2018.
Value: $6,000 per annum.

Elaine M Grierson Scholarship

Background:

The purpose of this Scholarship is to support an undergraduate Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander student studying physiotherapy for the duration of their degree.

Open to: Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney, and 
  who has completed at least 48 credit points of study in their degree.
Value: $6,000 per annum

Faculty of Health Science Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Honours Scholarship

Background:

Established in 2017 and funded via the 2017 Wingara Mura Bunga Barrabugu Compact, this Scholarship will assist students to meet the costs of participating in their honours project e.g. travel, conference presentations, and data collection materials. Through the Scholarship, we hope to encourage and support more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to complete honours and for more allied health students to develop skills in Indigenous research.

Open to: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strat Islanders, or a student intending to undertake or are completing honours in research within the areas of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health, disability or education. 
  Applicants must be enrolled in an honours degree in the Faculty of Health Sciences and on track to complete their honours in the following year.
Value: $5,000 per annum
