Douglas and Lola Douglas Scholarship in Health Sciences – Physiotherapy

Background:

Established in the Faculty of Health Sciences, this Scholarship has been generously bequeathed by the late Lola Rachel Maude Douglas to support students exhibiting outstanding academic performance in the undergraduate honours degree of Physiotherapy.

Open to: Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents.
  Applicants currently enrolled full-time in the third year of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) Honours degree.
  Applicants who are recipients of scholarships that are valued $6,000 per annum or above are not eligible to be considered.
  Recipients of this Scholarship are not eligible to be considered for the University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize.
Value: The value of this Scholarship will be determined by the Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences or their nominated delegates depending on the allocation  of trust funds each year. Each successful recipient will have the exact value of their Scholarship outlined in their Scholarship Offer Letter.

Cerebral Palsy Alliance Professor Henry J Cowan Memorial Scholarship

Background:

Cerebral Palsy Alliance and The University of Sydney have established Scholarships for allied health students within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The scholarships are called the Professor Henry J Cowan Memorial Scholarships, honouring the memory and generous bequest of Professor Cowan .

Open to: Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents who are available to undertake a final fieldwork placement with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
  Current students of the University of Sydney Faculty of Health Sciences who are enrolled full-time in either of the courses of: Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Physiotherapy, 
  Applicants must demonstrate an interest in the field of disability & paediatrics, and have strong academic and/or practical achievement in the paediatric study components, satisfactory academic achievement, and pass in all practical units prior to final practicums.
  Students enrolled in the Master of Occupational Therapy, or Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) must contact the Work Integrated Learning Occupational Therapy academic confirming that a placement at Cerebral Palsy Alliance would meet their placement requirements.

The Faculty of Health Sciences Student Leadership Award is awarded to students who have demonstrated sustained and outstanding student leadership whilst studying in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney.

Deans Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Undergraduate Scholarship

Background:

Established in 2014, this Scholarship is to assist Indigenous Australian students who are commencing studies in Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) or the Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney.

Open to:

Applicants must be of an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

  Applicants must have obtained an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) in the NSW High School Certificate (or equivalent) and to be commencing their first year of an undergraduate award course at the University of Sydney through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

Elaine M Grierson Scholarship

Background: Established in 2016, this Scholarship has been generously donated by Elaine M. Grierson to support an Indigenous Australian student studying physiotherapy at the University of Sydney.
 Open to: Applicants must identify as an Indigenous Australian.
  Applicants must be enrolled full-time in Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney.
 

Applicants must have completed at least 48 credit points of study in their degree and should be entering their second, third or fourth year of study.

Value: $6,000 per annum
Duration: Full time duration of the degree

Faculty of Health Science Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Honours Scholarship

Background:

Established in 2017 and funded via the 2017 Wingara Mura Bunga Barrabugu Compact, this Scholarship will assist students to meet the costs of participating in their honours project e.g. travel, conference presentations, and data collection materials. Through the Scholarship, we hope to encourage and support more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to complete honours and for more allied health students to develop skills in Indigenous research.

Open to: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strat Islanders, or a student intending to undertake or are completing honours in research within the areas of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health, disability or education. 
  Applicants must be enrolled in an honours degree in the Faculty of Health Sciences and on track to complete their honours in the following year.
Value: $5,000 per annum

Faculty of Health Science Deans International Scholarship

Background:

The Faculty of Health Sciences Deans International Scholarship is to assist outstanding international students to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate coursework studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney.

Open to:

This Scholarship is offered subject to the international applicant having an unconditional offer of admission in one of the following in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney:

I. Undergraduate degree, or

II. Graduate Entry Masters degree.

Value and Duration: The Scholarship value at $6,000 per annum and is tenable for one year only.
